Why can't we just all be happy?

Why is this? We as people have to surround ourselves with others that are unhappy. It is as if when we wake up someone says "Oh you are in a good mood, then lets see who we can bring into your life today that can bring you down!" I swear since I have been back here in Kansas sadness is all around me. I can not go a day with out someone trying to bring me down.
